Elsie the St Bernard gave her owner a shock by swallowing a 13-inch carving knife. The serrated blade was in the stomach of the six-month-old puppy for around four days.
The knife was removed during a two-hour operation at an animal hospital in Fort Lauderdale in Florida. "I was just flabbergasted," said Dr Jon-Paul Carew after an X-ray revealed the knife.
