Sunrise in Darjeeling
So i recently got back from India after spending a week and a half in the motherland. Part of my itenary while i was in Darjeeling was to catch the sunrise off Tiger Hill which is located strategically at an altitude of 2590 metres above sea level. Tiger Hill also offers an impeccable view of the snow capped mountain peak, Kanchenjunga, better known as the third highest moutain in the world. We set off from our hotel in Darjeeling at 4.30 am, before dawn hoping to catch a good view of the sunrise. By the time we got there at 5ish, there were truckloads of camera bearing people already crowding around the vintage look-out points. So i had to brave the hundreds in he crowds coupled with the blistering cold, sub zero degree temperatures, to bring you this set of pictures. It sure was an awesome sight to behold. Such sights just cap off your trip and are definitely the main highlight. And thats as good as a sunrise gets, anywhere in the world. Its an awesome sight seeing the sun in the form of a red ball, break into the horizon with shades of yellow and orange. What was impressive just the same was the sunrays hitting Mount Kanchenjunga and illuminating it. Did i mention the crowd or did i mention the crowd? If our guide's estimate was spot on the crowd must have been at least 800 strong. And here's all 8 of us that went on the trip.
