Bolton 0:4 United 4-0 away at the Reebok. A Rooney Hattrick. Fuck me. Dont think we could have even hoped for a better result. I knew it always going to be touch away against Bolton, hence i had my money on a narrow 1-0 or 2-1 away win for us, but for us to trounce them in the manner that we did, im fuckin chuffed to say the least. How good were we in the first 20 minutes of the game, the pace, the neat flicks, the 1-2's, the control, the possession, its the best football we've played for a while yet. Carrick and Scholes were unbelievably good i those 20 minutes orchestrating everything.
We should have had scored at least 4 instead of just the 2 that did go in by the time the 20 minutes were up. There was one sequence of play in the first 20 where we flicking and spraying passes betweenat least 6 of our players around the Bolton penalty area that was a fuckin joy to watch.
The middle portion of the game was a lull for us, we were'nt too bothered with going forward n creating more chances and instead invited them to come for us as we sat back and took everything they through at us defending incredibly well. Vidic was a fuckin monster last night, as he always is, letting nothing through and almost single handedly headed all the long balls Bolton played into our penalty box. As Bolton got more and more frustrated and eventually through more players forward trying desperately to get a goal, we hit them on the break, scoring another 2.
Ill quit whinging bout the near misses and get on to the 4 that did go in. The first goal was all Carrick. He showed us what we payed for when he played the pass which Rooney raced onto and latched a first time effort into the back of the net for his first goal in 10 games now.
Rooneys second minutes later was also equally brilliant after he controlled a deflected Neville pass and his shot from outside the box was inch perfect grazing in off the right post.
The third one started off with another inch perfect pass from Carrick to Saha whom controlled the ball exceptionally well before closing in on the Bolton goal sucking in the defenders and rather unselfishly squared the ball to Ronaldo who had the simplest of tap ins.
Our final goal came from a Fletcher interception of a really bad Bolton pass and his first time ball over the Bolton defenders ended up right in Rooney's stride and he showed Saha how to tuck away the 1 on 1's.
Earlier on Saha missed an incredible chance to get his name of the scoresheet when he broke through the Bolton defence with only the keeper to beat, he shot low and straight at the keeper's legs. He almost always seems to screw up the 1 on 1's, he seems to opt for power instead of placing the ball away from the keepers reach. Lets hope he works on it or perhaps he could work on chipping the ball over the on rushing keeper in 1 on 1 situations. Either way, he's still a class player who brings so much to our attack. I especially love how Saha links play between the midfield and attack when he dribbles around for a bit, waiting for support to arrive before joining up the play.
Rooney and Vidic were brilliant and Scholes were class as usual. Carrick really does deserve a special mention for not only the 2 brilliant balls he played but for his overall contribution to the game. Having said that, it was a much better performance from him but definitely not a brilliant one.
Vidic is definitely proving to be one of the signings of the season, shows Sir Alex still's got the niche for spotting talent. He has a fantastic leap about him, which leads to him almost always winning headers, and its not just that, he heads the ball away with sheer power and conviction and even direction which other defenders seem to lack. They just try their best to get it away in any direction but not Vidic. He is also an awesome all round defender, always gets his legs in there sliding in blocking shots on goal. The stats dont lie. With Vidic in the team we've only conceded 2 goals in the 6 games and without him starting, we conceded 5 in 5.
Oh and what is it with Rio and holding people's faces after a goal? He did it to Vidic as well when he scored against the cunts.
We're now playing some of the best football we've seen in years. The defence looks like its growing in confidence and the midfield is starting to take shape plus Rooney is getting back to his best. We've now scored the most goals in the premiership, conceded the least, created the most chances and we've got a healthy goal difference which really might make all the difference. We've now got a midweek game against Copenhagen away where all we need is a point to qualify for the next stage to the Champions League and then Pompey at home, then Blackburn away, Sheffield United at home and then Chelsea away to complete our november fixtures. This is our season! Glory Glory Man Utd!
