Tackled By The Red Devil at 10:14 PM,Airplanes can kill you quickly; a woman takes her time. Airplanes can be turned on by a flick of a switch. Airplanes don't get mad if you 'touch and go.' Airplanes don't object to a preflight inspection. Airplanes operate inverted. Airplanes come with manuals to explain their operation. Airplanes have strict weight and balance limits. Airplanes can be flown any time of the month. Airplanes don't come with in-laws. Airplanes don't care about how many other airplanes you have flown before. Airplanes and pilots both arrive at the same time. Airplanes don't complain if you hose them down. Airplanes don't mind if you like to look at other airplanes. Airplanes can get high without throwing up. Airplanes expect to be tied down. Airplanes don't comment on your piloting skills. Airplanes don't whine unless something is really wrong. However, when airplanes go quiet, just like a woman, it's a bad thing. 0 Fancy Pitting Your Footballing Knowledge Against Mine? United 4 - 2 Fulham
Pretty much similar to the Blackburn game which we lost, with the only difference this time being we came up on the winning side. Hardly a resounding victory, a rather flattering 4-2 scoreline at the end of the day. Ill take any form of victory at this stage to keep up the pursuit of Chelski. Van der Sar's looking increasingly erratic in goal for us. He should have kept Fulham's 2nd goal out. Evra looks out of sorts as always. Did reasonable well in the first half but lost it towards the end of the game before he was subbed out. Glad to see Smithy back in action for us. His ball distribution's definitely getting much better. Ronaldo finally gets a freekick on target and he scores! Played well mostly throughout the game but i felt he drifted at times with lapses in concentration. He's gotta work on keeping focus for the duration of the game. Ruud was unlucky not to score in this game. Was his usual self tho, holding up play. It sure has been a while since we last scored from a free kick. Come on Ronnie! Hope this opens the floodgates! 0 Fancy Pitting Your Footballing Knowledge Against Mine? Munich Remembered - 48 Years Ago, Today
On 6th February 1958 the airplane carrying players and backroom staff of Manchester United, plus a number of journalists and supporters, crashed in a blizzard on its third attempt to take off from the Munich airport. United were returning from Belgrade where they had just beaten Red Star Belgrade in the European Cup and had stopped off at Munich for re-fuelling. Twenty-three of the forty-four passengers on board the aircraft lost their lives. One cold and bitter Thursday in Munich, Germany, Eight great football stalwarts conceded victory, Eight men who will never play again who met destruction there, The flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester Matt Busby's boys were flying, returning from Belgrade, This great United family, all masters of their trade, The Pilot of the aircraft, the skipper Captain Thain, Three times they tried to take off and twice turned back again. The third time down the runaway disaster followed close, There was a slush upon that runaway and the aircraft never rose, It ploughed into the marshy ground, it broke, it overturned. And eight of the team were killed as the blazing wreckage burned. Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor who were capped for England's side. And Ireland's Billy Whelan and England's Geoff Bent died, Mark Jones and Eddie Colman, and David Pegg also, They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow. Big Duncan he went to, with an injury to his frame, And Ireland's brave Jack Blanchflower will never play again, The great Sir Matt Busby lay there, the father of his team Three long months passed by before he walked again. The trainer, coach and secretary, and a member of the crew, Also eight sporting journalists who with United flew, and one of them Big Swifty, who we'll ne'er forget, the finest English 'keeper that ever graced the net. Oh, England's finest football team its record truly great, its proud successes mocked by a cruel turn of fate. Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there, the flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester Geoff Bent I may be only 20, but I sure feel that as a Manchester United fan and as a football fan in general, it's important to remember events of the past. R.I.P the 'Busby Babes'. Tackled By The Red Devil at 2:39 PM,0 Fancy Pitting Your Footballing Knowledge Against Mine? Reinstating Life into This.Is.Old.Trafford
I've been back home for quite a while now but i've hardly ever been home the past week to have the time to man the reins of this is old trafford. The Fellowship camp in Cameron Highlands was awesome, i must say. Ill get to blogging about it when time permits. For now, ill stick to the essentials.
Tackled By The Red Devil at 10:53 AM,I couldnt have found a better time to kick start blogging once again than today, the 6th of february, 50 years down the road after the Munich Air Disaster which took the lives of half the Man Utd team. Ill get to the tribute later on. But first lets have a Utd update. In the week that i've been away, we've qualified for the the Carling Cup final by beating Blackburn 2-1, Progressed into the 4th round of the FA Cup by whipping Wolves 3-0, and we're now firmly in 2nd place behind Chelsea after beating Fulham 4-2 last night and also cause of Liverpool's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelski. We also lost a thrilling game to Blackburn 4-3 in a midweek fixture. That being the only spot of bother on an otherwise perfect week. Our defensive frailities are back to haunt us once again, conceding 6 goals in our last 2 premiership games mainly due to schoolboy defending errors. On the other hand we have now scored 7 goals in our last 2 games leaving us now in second place in the scoring charts just 1 goal short of Chelski's tally of 51 league goals. All is well in the red half of manchester. 0 Fancy Pitting Your Footballing Knowledge Against Mine? |
